HONESTY. EXCELLENCE. ACCOUNTABILITY. VALUE.
WELCOME TO UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER
It’s more than the price. It’s about the people. The knowledge. The follow up. It’s about creating a genuinely IMMERSIVE experience like no other.
Appliances in today’s marketplace have become a pure commodity. Typically, the major retailers and large appliance stores will offer competitive prices, but they must adhere to the stringent pricing standards laid down by the appliance manufacturers, known as UMRP "Unilateral Minimum Retail Price.” So, appliance stores showcasing the best prices possible is likely to be a given. What is not is the product selection at the showroom. The customer experience. The follow through. The installation. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center differentiates itself by not only offering the largest brand selection in Southern California, but by creating a unique immersive shopping experience.
More than the typical appliance outlet, or even a premier retailer of the best brands in home and kitchen appliances, decorative plumbing fixtures and outdoor grills, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center is a purveyor of LIFESTYLE Solutions.
Explore and discover here, and in one of our appliance center locations, why we say it’s about delivering a WOW experience EVERY TIME.

The commercial and residential neighborhood of Westwood lies in the northern central area of the Westside region of L.A. Westwood began development in 1919, and it expanded with the new University of California campus opening in 1926.
The neighborhood was developed on the 3,000 acre Wolfskill ranch that was purchased in 1919 by Arthur Letts, the founder of Bullocks and Broadway department stores. After Lett’s death, the land was inherited by Harold Janss, his son in law who developed the area, and new homes were advertised in 1922.
By 1925, the University of California had expanded and outgrown its site on Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, and a new campus was selected in Westwood Hills. The property was sold to the university for $1 million, less than one third of the value of the land. The state bond, Proposition 10 provided $3 million for the construction. Building commenced and the Westwood site was opened in 1929.
Today, Westwood covers an area of 3.68 square miles with over 48,000 residents, a number of parks and recreational facilities, schools, and the Geffen Playhouse.
