The Porter Ranch area has developed over the last 40 years. The new building work including the Renaissance Summit development program was mired in controversy and politics throughout the late 80s and early 90s. The existing Porter Ranch area residents feared the increased traffic from the planned building. The developments were also subject to criticism for destroying the natural beauty of the wild areas.
