Appliance Store Gardena

HONESTY. EXCELLENCE. ACCOUNTABILITY. VALUE.

WELCOME TO UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER

It’s more than about just the price. It’s about the people. The knowledge. The follow up. It’s about creating an IMMERSIVE experience like no other.

Today virtually all retailers and expansive appliance outlets engage in competitive pricing due to the rigid pricing regulations imposed by the appliance makers, known as UMRP "Unilateral Minimum Retail Price." Thus, it's common for appliance stores to boast the lowest prices they can offer. However, the breadth of options in the showroom, the customer service quality, the reliability of follow-up, and the efficiency of installation services often vary. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center distinguishes itself by boasting the broadest brand assortment in Southern California, alongside creating a distinctive and captivating shopping environment.

Far more than just an appliance retailer or even a leading seller of the finest home and kitchen appliances, decorative plumbing, and outdoor grills, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center is dedicated to offering LIFESTYLE Solutions.

We encourage you to discover for yourself, either online or at one of our appliance center venues, why we emphasize ensuring a WOW experience EVERY TIME.

Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center and Gardena, CA

Until 2014, Gardena held the distinction of having the highest percentage of Japanese Americans in California. This demographic detail underscores the South Bay's status as the region with the highest concentration of Japanese companies in the mainland United States.

The city's name is believed to come from it being the "green spot" in the dry area between Los Angeles and the ocean, thanks to its berry farms. Gardena was once known as "Berryland" and celebrated its Strawberry Day Festival and Parade every May. However, the berry industry declined during World War I as the war economy prioritized other crops.

Japanese Americans have been a significant part of Gardena's community throughout its history. The city incorporated on September 11, 1930, primarily to avoid a hefty county tax for a park project.

Gardena covers a total area of 5.9 square miles (15 km²), with over 99% being land. It also features the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve, a 9.4-acre natural marshland at the city's southeast corner, supporting various species of trees and vegetation.

The city is surrounded by Athens to the north, Harbor Gateway to the east and south, Torrance to the southwest, Alondra Park to the west, and Hawthorne to the northwest.

Home to a large Japanese-American community, Gardena had the second-highest concentration of Japanese Americans in the U.S. until 2014, when Torrance surpassed it. The Japanese Cultural Institute (JCI), located in Gardena since 1988, provides cultural and social activities for the community and is housed in a building completed in 1976.

In terms of political representation, Gardena falls within California's 35th Senate District, represented by Democrat Steven Bradford, and the 66th Assembly District, represented by Democrat Al Muratsuchi.
